HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR SITE

The first thing to do is to submit your site to search engines. There are many sites that will submit your site for free. However, you will have much better results if you submit your site to search engines yourself, one at a time. It is more work, but you will have much better results, and with much less spam mail later on.

The next best way to get traffic to your site is with reciprocal links.  Many search engines will give you a higher rating if a lot of sites are linked to you. Put the category of your site into a good search engine (I like google ) and then look for sites that compliment your own. E-mail them and ask to exchange a link. 

You can put your site into directories. Again, put the word 'directory' into a search engine, and go to the appropriate ones and submit your site.  Be sure and submit to DMOZ!

Put the address of your site, and a very short description, at the bottom of all of your e-mail letters.

 
Remember, it takes time to get traffic! Do not get discouraged if you don't see results for a couple of months. You can re-submit your site to some search engines every 2 months or so, more often and you risk them barring you.
